HISTORY STUDY OF THE MUSEUM QUARTER OF KOUVOLA

As my final year in the studies of restoration progressed, I had to choose a subject for my final thesis. The Museum Quarter of Kouvola (Kouvolan Museokortteli) were searching for a student to collect history of the buildings, residents and events of the area, and I decided to grab onto this opportunity.

I focused consistently for this project for about seven months. In the starting point there was very little information available, so everything had to be gathered from documents in the archives, books, interviews, newspapers and photographs. I finished the thesis in April, and continued working with the research until June of 2019. It is now printed as a book of 120 pages. Another outcome of the project were information plates for the houses of the area, that display their histories. I myself wrote the texts of these plates and my colleague Elli Huru designed the appearance.
