MINIATURE PLASTER GEMS

During my exchange in Tartu, Estonia, I completed a course in plastering and gilding. My course was organised individually, which gave me a wonderful opportunity to work with a local expert in plaster and stucco restoration, Maria Väinsaar. I shadowed Maria for many weeks, assisting her at the Tartu University museum and at her workshop in plaster conservation and casting. These miniature plaster gems I made were replicas of historical precious metal gems found in the museum's collection.
