OFFICER'S CLUB (UPSEERIKERHO)

March - June 2020

The Officer’s club (Upseerikerho) is also located in the island of Suomenlinna (UNESCO World Heritage Site) in Helsinki. The building was constructed in 1876 and it is the oldest building in Finland constructed as a military officer’s club. The three-level building underwent a large scale renovation, including renewed roof, all electrical work and interior restoration. My colleague and I were employed by Restaurointimaalaus MIMOS Oy to restore, patch paint and repaint interiors of the building.

The interiors had acquired a lot soot and dust, many of the surface layers chapping and the electrical work caused damage on the interiors that we restored. The biggest focus of the project was cleaning, puttying and repainting the banquet hall. The project also entailed a lot of minor reconstructions or architectural details and patch painting in tens of different rooms in the building.
